Analysis of question five answers
How is your relationship with your family?
a. They all live close by so there’s barely a day goes by when we don’t see each other
Are you sure you could bear to leave them all behind. Abroad can be a very lonely place.
b. We’re not close geographically, but we speak regularly on the phone.
International phone calls are generally very inexpensive which should mean it’s just as easy for relatives to stay in touch if you’re out of the country. But many people find there’s a psychological barrier which stops relatives phoning as often when you leave the UK.
c. I’m close to some of them, but there’s others I’m never going to speak to again
Are you thinking of moving abroad because you want to, or out of spite? It’s harder to mend bridges from a long distance.
d. Family? What family?
If you really feel that, then moving abroad should be no problem.
