When did you last give somebody your home phone number?
a. I can’t remember it was so long ago
Moving abroad means reviving a skill you may not have used since your teens, making friends. And you have to make an effort to keep in touch. Not everybody finds it easy.
b. I’m never at home, but I give out my mobile number all the time
You social butterfly you! Beware though, it’s easy to get a “reputation” in the close-knit ex-pat community.
c. Within the last couple of months
Well, you probably haven’t lost the knack of making new friends, but you really do have to make an effort if you move overseas
d. I’m always giving out my number
That’s probably good, but there is such a thing as making yourself too available. You’ll find there some ex-pats who are lonely for a reason.
